Rock Band goes old school punk with additions from Bad Religion and The Stooges

Harmonix and MTV Games announced that tracks from punk legends Bad Religion and The Stooges will be available next week in the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and WiiTM.

With more than 400 artists, including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, AC/DC and Green Day, who are exclusive to Rock Band, as well as more than 1,550 songs available through the Rock Band platform and 70 million songs sold through its download store alone, Rock Band is the undisputed sales and content leader in the interactive music space, providing the deepest and best selection of artists, songs and albums.

Bad Religion formed in 1979 in Southern California and have been a driving force in the punk rock music scene since. They recently celebrated their 30th anniversary with a tour this spring that was documented on the collection 30 Years Live. Still, the punk legends show no sign of slowing down, and on Sept. 28 will release their 15th studio album, The Dissent of Man. Next week, two tracks from Bad Religion will be available for Rock Band play. “New Dark Ages” from the band’s 14th studio album, 2007’s New Maps of Hell, and “No Control,” the title track from the 1989 album of the same name, will both be available. Singapore World Cyber Games, Inc is please to announce its collaboration with Rapture Gaming to present World Cyber Games 2010 Asian Championship and the Singapore National Finals here in Singapore from July 10 and 11, 2010 at the Singapore Expo Convention and Exhibition Centre. This is the fifth year that WCG 2010 Asian Championship is running here in Singapore The WCG 2010 Asian Championship will be held concurrently with the Singapore National Finals which begins on July 9, 2010.

2010 also marks the tenth anniversary of the World Cyber Games.

The WCG 2010 Asian Championship is a by-invitation-only tournament for 112 WCG 2009 or 2010 National Final champions from 14 countries across Asia. Target and Ubisoft to Showcase Upcoming Family Friendly Games at E3 Bullseye Lounge

Exclusive Demo of Fitness and Game Show Titles as Retailer’s Bullseye Lounge Returns for Second Consecutive Year

Target and Ubisoft will team up at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, June 15–17, for an exclusive preview of four upcoming family fun games. Target’s Bullseye Lounge will feature two upcoming fitness-themed titles, Gold’s Gym Dance Workout and Dance on Broadway, as well as video game adaptations of the hit television game shows, WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE and Hollywood Squares. Ubisoft’s games, playable on Wii, will offer Expo attendees a chance to engage in competitive gameplay while at the three-day event at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

In addition to providing exclusive hands-on access to these select titles, the Bullseye Lounge, centrally located in the Concourse Hall Foyer, will include Wi-Fi, cell phone charging stations, an electronics cleaning station and free snacks and beverages from Archer Farms, Target’s premium owned food brand. The Bullseye Lounge will also offer an interactive video wall and a preview of Target’s new video game reinvention.

Gold’s Gym Dance Workout, developed by Land Ho!, is the first dance game specifically designed to promote fitness and weight loss. Players can choose from a wide variety of choreographed dance routines influenced by Latin dance styles, as well as participate in sessions incorporating boxing and mini-games that target specific muscles – all to the sounds of hit music tracks such as “Just Dance,” “I Will Survive,” and “Jai Ho.” Gold’s Gym Dance Workout takes training to new levels of fun by incorporating trainer feedback and options that allow the players to choose an individual workout program or create their own fitness routine. Guinness World Records 2010 Gamers Edition

The world of gaming was forever changed when Mario made his first appearance in Donkey Kong back in 1982. Now, more than 20 years later, Mario is still ‘The Godfather’ of gaming as the most successful and enduring character in an industry which is constantly evolving.

May 23rd marks his triumphant return in Super Mario Galaxy 2 and to celebrate the highly anticipated release the Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer’s Edition highlights 10 of the premier Mario records featured in this year’s book.

A selection of Mario’s amazing accomplishments includes:

  • Most prolific video game character: (Mario) The character who has appeared in the largest number of video games is Mario, created by Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo, in Kyoto, Japan, in 1982. Mario has appeared in 207 distinct titles including remakes and re-releases.
  • Longest-running computer game character: (Mario) Nintendo’s Mario character, a plumber by trade, first appeared in the arcade version of Donkey Kong in 1981. Mario has since made an appearance in over 70 games, although he is a “playable” character in only around 30 of these.
  • Most successful videogame hero: (Mario) Mario, a computer-generated carpenter created by Shigeru Miyamoto (Japan), first made an appearance under that name in Nintendo’s ‘Game & Watch’ version of Donkey Kong in 1982 (He was otherwise known as “Jumpman” in the original 1981 arcade version of the game).
